E.L.Y.U - A Short But Unforgettable Beach Getaway
From Manila to the Coast
We left Manila around 5 AM, greeted by surprisingly light traffic, which made our journey smoother than expected. Despite a few stops along the way, the drive was pleasant. The three service roads (NLEX, SCTEX, and TPLEX) heading north were impressive—well-maintained and efficient. Though the toll fees were a bit pricey, they were absolutely worth it for the convenience.

Checking In at Baybayin Hub
We arrived in the afternoon and checked into Baybayin Hub. While they offer budget-friendly nipa huts for those comfortable with shared spaces, we opted for a private room on the second floor. The nipa huts looked cozy, perfect for travelers who don’t mind bunking with new people, but we preferred the privacy.
The hub’s facade features a charming house with a pool and a spacious parking area. At the heart of the property is a large, open dome like where digital nomads can work while enjoying the beach vibe. It’s a great space to meet fellow travelers. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly, even inviting us to join them for meals.

A Relaxing First Day
After settling in, we took a leisurely walk to the beach located right behind the hub. The sound of the waves and the salty breeze were the perfect welcome. We rested for a bit since we had work scheduled that night.
Surf, Sunburns, and Smiles
The following day started early with an exciting surfing session. We teamed up with another guest from Baybayin Hub, and since we were beginners, we hired an instructor to guide us through the basics. The lesson lasted about one to two hours in the middle of the ocean.
It wasn’t without challenges—my knees ended up with a few scrapes, and the sun left its mark with a fierce sunburn. But none of that mattered because the happiness on our faces was undeniable.
Local Finds and Farewell
After surfing, we browsed local stalls along the beach for pasalubong. The simple charm of handmade souvenirs and local treats added a special touch to our trip. We had lunch at a cozy local restaurant (wish we remembered the name!) before heading back to the hub to prepare for another night of work.
The Final Morning
On our last day, we woke up early to savor a few more peaceful moments by the beach. The sunrise was breathtaking, casting golden hues over the water. Before hitting the road back to Manila, we stopped by a local café for coffee and some delicious delicacies—the perfect way to cap off our short escape.

Final Thoughts
Though it was a brief trip, it was packed with memories we’ll cherish forever. Sometimes, it's the short, spontaneous getaways that leave the biggest mark on your heart.
